An AI GIF generator that keeps your subject the same in every frame

GifGenerator turns one sentence or one photo into a short looping GIF. Describe what should move, or upload a picture of your pet, a product, a sketch or a logo, and you get back a real animation: a set of frames that loop cleanly, with the same character, colors and background from the first frame to the last. Then you keep working on it in the built-in AI GIF editor instead of starting over.

Why we built it

GIFs are still the fastest way to say something in a chat, an email or a product page. They play everywhere, they don't need sound, and they loop until someone smiles. But the GIF you need often doesn't exist yet: the reaction with your community's in-joke, your own cat doing a little dance, a birthday greeting with the right name on the cake, a loading animation in your brand colors.

Most AI tools that promise "GIFs" either make a short video and convert it, or stitch a few unrelated images together. The first is heavy and rarely loops; the second flickers because nothing stays the same between frames. We wanted the opposite: a tool that thinks in frames, keeps the subject consistent, and treats the loop as part of the design.

What GifGenerator does today

  • Text to GIF. Write one sentence about the subject, the motion and the style. You get a looping GIF with 2 to 16 frames.
  • Image to GIF. Upload up to 12 reference photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP) and point at them with @ in your prompt, for example "make the cat in @image1 wave". The GIF keeps the subject and the scene from your photos.
  • Fast or Detailed. Fast is the quickest and cheapest way to a GIF. Detailed takes a little longer and draws finer detail at up to 768 px.
  • A built-in AI GIF editor. Change the speed, drop or reorder frames, play it forward, reversed or back and forth, and add a caption: these edits are instant and free. You can also mark spots on any frame and describe a change for each, and the GIF is redrawn with it.
  • Download and share. Download a standard GIF file that plays in email, WhatsApp, iMessage, Slack and Discord, or share a link to a page that plays your GIF.

How it works

  1. Describe it or add a photo. Say what moves and how, or upload the picture you want to animate.
  2. Generate. Pick Fast or Detailed. The GIF is drawn frame by frame and joined so the last frame flows back into the first.
  3. Edit and download. Adjust it in the AI GIF editor, then download the GIF or share a link.

What we care about

  • Consistency over spectacle. A GIF that flickers or changes the character halfway through is not a GIF you can send. Every generation is built to keep the same subject in every frame.
  • Free to start, honest about limits. You can start without an account or a credit card, a free account gets credits every day, and no GIF carries a watermark. We make GIFs, not videos or GIFs with sound.
  • Original work first. GifGenerator is made for your own photos, characters and ideas. Please don't use it to copy other people's characters or to impersonate real people; our Terms of Service explain what is and isn't allowed.
  • Your files stay yours. You can download everything you make. Our Privacy Policy explains how uploads and GIFs are stored.
